Bach, Johann Sebastian (1685-1750)

Program Note:

The three-part Sinfonias by J. S. Bach (1685-1750) are staples of keyboard instruction. They also offer basic instruction in counterpoint, and young musicians are instructed to follow or even sing one line while playing the other two. How nice it is, then, to hear the three lines played by three different string instruments, so that contrasting timbres help elucidate Bach’s powerfully clean counterpoint.
